Rethink, Redo, Restart.

Click.

A kid is watching a show on TiVo. The show bores him so he pushes a button on the remote and changes the channel. He catches the starting scenes of his favourite movie; excited to get to the good action parts of the movie, he pushes the fast-forward button.

A blur of colors, movement, and a buzzing sound is seen on the screen.

This is how the world looks like now; everything and everyone is in fast-forward.

Cord phones are replaced by mobile phones for sending messages, Jeeps by light rail transits for getting to places, and even our trusty credible books are taken for granted and taken over by a more fast-paced communication channel– the Internet– for retrieving information.

People are moving everywhere every time, multi-tasking and trying to adapt to the current lifestyle and evolving communication today. It’s as if they know what they’re doing, where they’re going every second of the day.

People, Organizations, are more in control of what they want and need now. Or are they?

The Internet is constantly exposing and bombarding us with information, necessary and useful or not at all. The World Wide Web is just that; it involves the whole World and it’s a Wide Web of chaos, if you let it control you.

Yes, this feeling of vulnerability and not being in total control is the reason why many organizations are not that eager to explore the cyber-world.

In Locke’s Internet Apocalypso, he wrote just how the Internet is a powerful tool; that when utilized properly can actually help a person and his organization be part of the Now.

Organizations today shouldn’t hesitate to try this new communication channel and use it to their advantage.  Being up to date and aware of the current communication trends and styles will keep an organization afloat and fighting to stay on the edge of today’s unpredictable marketplace.

The people heading these organizations should loosen up a bit. This is the 21st century my man, just so you know, if you’re still stuck in Frederick Taylor’s theory of “scientific management” and thinking that your employees are not knowledgeable at all.

Well, think again and talk yourself out of that mantra that you’re better than everyone else.

Go dance to the beats of the current demographics. Don’t just mistake them as mere statistics to your market report. You built your organization for them after all, didn’t you?

This new era where everything’s fast-paced, where the hunt and fight is mostly happening in a virtual world, and where the leader is anyone and everyone, communicating is still the key to survive.

The tools and message channels have changed. Be aware and be able to adapt.

Life is too short.

I dare you to take that leap.

To still continue to tell your story.

YOU TAKE CONTROL

YOU TAKE CONTROL

Pause.

Rethink, Redo, Restart. NOW.

Be a kid again.

Explore. Take some risks. Listen.

Be in Control.

Because we die in the end.

But first, we should live.
